From the Greenest Gardens

from Confetti // Collision by Eric Quigley

/

about

Cold, middle of January Chicago winter. Too much time on my hands, not taking care of myself. Feeling a bit lost, a bit confused, a bit lonely...and yearning for a time when I felt more sure, more capable of knowing what I wanted and how to ask for it.
The verses are the acknowledgment, the chorus is the release.

lyrics

Spend another night alone
Boxed in by the rain and snow
I only feel the Chicago cold
When I lay without you

Got some friend that I try to see...
Something about our destinies
If you believe that sort of thing
We're in this together

I broke my heart
& I broke yours too
Sadly that's not even new
It's just something we learned to do
When the clock runs over

Oh,
Take it away
I can't feel this way again today
And what was that you tried to say?
I don't think I can love you
Oh,
Make it brand new
Help me love like I used to
When I gave all that I grew
From the greenest gardens

I wonder what you're doing now
I know I said I'd figure my shit out...
But all those words got lost somehow
Everyday without you

Now I just want to get away clean
Dodge the wind that's been blowing through me
But honey, this ain't a movie scene
You know I'm...
Bent beyond my back

Oh,
Take it away
I can't feel this way again today
And what was that you tried to say?
I don't think I can love you
Oh,
Make it brand new
Help me love like I used to
When I gave all that I grew
From the greenest gardens

Spend another night alone
Boxed in by the rain and snow
The only question left to know...
Does another lay with you?
